Chiropractic Treatment for Neck Pain in McLean, VA
If you spend your days on a computer for work and your evenings scrolling through your phone, you may be suffering from neck pain. Patients with neck pain commonly experience:
- Muscle tightness and spasms
- Migraines and headaches
- Limited range of motion
- Pain that is aggravated by holding the head in the same position for extended periods of time (as with sitting at a desk using a computer)
Treatment begins by pinpointing the reason for your neck pain. There are many potential causes for neck pain, including:
- Car accidents
- Strains and sprains
- Too much screen time
- Improper sleep position
- Bone misalignments
- Fixations
- Cervical disc problems
During your first appointment with us for neck pain, we’ll assess the condition of your neck. Has it lost part of its curve? Are there signs of disc degeneration?
A body that is structurally healthy has a slight curve in the neck that positions your head centered just above your shoulders. This distributes your head’s weight evenly, putting an equal amount of pressure on each of the discs in the spine.
If your head is moved forward slightly from this position—something we commonly observe in patients who spend a lot of time on screens and devices—the pressure placed on these discs is increased. These patients experience chronic neck pain, back pain, and headaches.
At Palmercare, we use spinal manipulation to relieve neck pain and its associated symptoms. Our chiropractors will also coach you on at-home exercises and stretches that can help improve your posture to reposition your head, providing long-term relief for pain.
